Our mission is
to increase dignity, income, and access
of low income communities through technology

WHY WE ARE HERE

A Letter from Our Leader

We built Ruma because we want low income communities to have
access to products and services that would improve their lives.

The challenge of access for these communities is not always due to distance, but also
due to their low purchasing power. The goods available in these communities are usually
lower quality but at a higher price than the department stores. To make matters worse,
they buy almost everything on credit provided by predatory lenders.

We are uniting the purchasing power of millions of low income families to provide them
with better access to goods and services. We do this by recruiting local entrepreneurs
to facilitate ordering, payment, and delivery for their neighbors using our technology.
We split profits with the entrepreneurs, so the local economy could continue to thrive.

STRONGER, BETTER, TOGETHER

Our Belief

We believe we can unite the purchasing power of millions of low income
families to provide them with better access to goods and services.
We are recruiting local microentrepreneurs to become our agents who act as
payment and delivery point in their surrounding communities.

WHERE WE ARE NOW

Ruma in Numbers

We currently operate in Indonesia, a country where 80% of its 200 million people are still unbanked.
We started by enabling our members to sell simple payment products
such as mobile top up and utility payments
